6 robbers raped a female passenger in a moving passenger bus in Tangail. The horrific incident took place on Wednesday (August 3) midnight in an Eagle Paribahan bus on its way from Daulatpur in Kushtia to Dhaka.
After a physical examination at Tangail General Hospital on Thursday (August 4) afternoon, the victim woman herself described the gruesome incident of rape to journalists.
The victim said, "I was going to Narayanganj in a night coach of Eagle transport from Kushtia. The bus stops for dinner at Daybaratri Hotel near Sirajganj. Later, the robbers boarded the bus from Koddar Mor area of the highway. All of them were wearing masks. Then they got together and took control of the car. At this time, if one of them wants to sit on the seat next to me, I forbid. But he sat down forcefully and abused me. At one stage, six members of the gang gang raped me.'
Supervisor of Tangail General Hospital Dr. Sadikur Rahman said that a sample has been taken for the woman's swab test. It has been sent to Dhaka for testing. Besides, there are injury marks in different parts of his body. It is believed that such trauma has been created by preventing rape. He is undergoing treatment. Getting the swab test report can confirm the rape.
Tangail Superintendent of Police Sarkar Mohammad Qaiser said that on Thursday (August 4) in the afternoon, a passenger of the bus became a plaintiff and filed a case at Madhupur police station accusing unknown persons. The prime accused, Raja Mia, has been arrested. He was arrested early today from the new bus stand area of Tangail town. During preliminary interrogation, he confessed to the crime and revealed who was involved in the incident. Efforts are underway to arrest the rest.
